James H. Holmes

JAMES HOLMES – James Harrell Holmes, age 88, of Columbus, MS, passed away September 3, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Monday, September 9, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel College St. location. The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.

Mr. Holmes was born January 12, 1931, in McComb, MS, to the late James Monroe and Jewell Beatrice Smith Holmes.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army.  Mr. Holmes was retired from the Columbus Fire Department and formerly owned and operated Holmes Fire Extinguisher Sales & Service.  He was a member of the Macon Pentecostal Church.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Henley Holmes and brother, Bobby Holmes.

Survivors include his sons, Mike Holmes of North Little Rock, AR, and Sterling Holmes of Port St. Lucie, FL, daughters, Deborah King of Colleyville, TX, and Tammy Stanley of Columbus, MS, and grandchildren, Bret Stanley, Boomer Stanley, Jeanna Pursifull, and Cristina King.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
