James Ray Adair, age 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away July 7, 2024, at The Windsor Place. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Gillon officiating and Rev. Sammy Crawford assisting. The interment will immediately follow at Rowan Cemetery of Caledonia. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at Fairview Baptist Church. Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Adair was born May 6, 1940, in Caledonia, MS, to the late James Hoyt and Frances Hassie Rene Wells Adair. He was a graduate of Caledonia High School and was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the United States Army and National Guard. Mr. Adair worked for the Columbus Police Department for several years and enjoyed coaching little league baseball. He worked for General Tire / Omnova Solutions as a security guard for over 32 years. Mr. Adair was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and Billy Bozeman Sunday School Class and took part in the 55 Plus Ministry, Security Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and Usher team. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Wiggins Adair.
Survivors include his son, Aubrey Adair and his wife Cindy of Columbus, MS, daughter, Denise Sisson and her husband Kenneth of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Sydney Adair, Collin Adair, Stone Sisson, and Lake Sisson (Emma) and great grandson, Hazeton Lake Sisson.
Pallbearers will be Stone Sisson, Lake Sisson, Collin Adair, Scott Adair, Pat Adair, Doug Wiggins, Charlie Curtis, and Mitch Wiggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Hill, Charles Parker, Mark Dodson, Lee Gallop, Henry Bush, Redus Sisson, Jr., Billy Crossley, Ken Cook, Chuck Batts, and members of the Billy Bozeman Sunday School Class of Fairview Baptist Church.
