Jacob Selzer

July 24, 1962 — May 15, 2023

Jacob Francis Selzer, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away on May 15, 2023.  He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 24, 1962, and was a long-time resident of Slidell, Louisiana until relocating to Columbus, Mississippi in 1996.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel M. and Jerome Q. Selzer, and grandparents, Althia and Roland McMahon and Jacob and Katherine Selzer.

Jacob was the beloved brother of Dolores Pedneau, Jerome Selzer Jr., Jesse Selzer, Mark Selzer, Bonnie Purvis, Margaret Castrovillari, and the late Nancy Selzer, Virginia St. John, David Selzer, and Joel Selzer.  He was a loving Uncle to 20 nieces and nephews and Great-Uncle to 22 nieces and nephews.  He leaves behind a host of extended family and friends whom he loved dearly.

Jacob (“Leo”) graduated from Slidell High School in 1982 and attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana before embarking on his career in food and custodial services at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Starkville, Mississippi.  Jacob was a collegiate sports enthusiast, with immense school spirit, and would regularly attend and volunteer at sporting events to root for his team and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow students, faculty and alumni.  He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Starkville, MS.  A memorial service will begin in the church chapel at 12:00 p.m.
