Hudson Edgar Adams

Hudson Edgar Adams, age 78, passed away July 7, 2022 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Visitation will be held at Memorial, Gunter, and Peel in Columbus, MS on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10 AM with funeral services to follow at 11 AM. Dr. Tim Williams will officiate and Charlie Martin will provide music. A burial service will follow the funeral at the family plot within Friendship Cemetery. Memorial, Gunter, and Peel Funeral and Crematory is handling all arrangements.
Mr. Adams was born May 27, 1944 in Gilbertown, AL to the late M. Jack and Mary Taylor Adams. He Attended Southern Choctaw High School in Silas, AL and East Mississippi Junior College in Scuba, MS. In high school he was in the band and played football, baseball, and basketball. While in college and after college he toured, sang and played drums with the Johnny Rivers Band, the Chevelle’s, and the Predawn Five, all popular bands at that time.
Mr. Adams served in the National Guard and began his career as a sales agent with Liberty National Life Insurance. He went on to establish his own insurance brokerage, Adams and Associates Insurance Agency (initially Adams/West). Later he also opened Econo Cars and its affiliated entities, operating them for approximately 30 years.
He received numerous recognitions and awards including Outstanding Agency, Presidents Club, and served as President of the Five County Association of Life Underwriters. He attended the Barrytown Church of God in Gilbertown Alabama and Mount Vernon Church in Columbus, MS where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and chaperoned Youth Mission Trips.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Pauline Campbell of Gilbertown, AL; brother, Jimmy Adams of Butler, AL; brother-in-law Bob Roach of Hoover, AL; brother-in-law Ted Stevenson of Vestavia Hills, AL; sister-in-law Sharon Valiant of Columbus, MS; and mother-in law Eleanor Valiant of Columbus, MS

Daughter, Tisha Dawn Adams of Columbus, MS, grandson Kyle G. Adams (Shannon) and great grandaughter’s Avery and Riley of McKinney, TX
Son Taylor Valiant Adams (Phoenix) and grandchildren Taylor Junior, Kensington, Albert Hudson, and Carys, all of Virginia Beach, VA
Son Malcolm Seth Adams (Holly) and grandson Dylan of Cheseapeake, VA
