Henry Hugh "Bud" Walters

Henry Hugh “Bud” Walters age 91 of Columbus, MS passed away on January 7 th , 2022 at his Home.  Bud was born on July 27, 1930, in Caledonia, Ms. to Cullie “Shorty” Walters and Myrtle Lucille Rye Walters.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Cullie and Myrtle Walters along with his brother and sisters JC Walters, Mary Walters Galliard, Frances Walters Smith, Chris Walters, and Joyce Walters Montbriand.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 47 years, Dorothy “Dot” Walters.  Daughters, Judy (Bob) Breckenridge, Cynthia “Cindy” (Chip) Brink, and Sheila (Mark) Dillon. Grandchildren; Jonathan (Crystal) Breckenridge, Brittany (Rob) Sanderson, Joshua “Chesley” (Brandy) Avery, Christopher “Chris” (Joyce) Brink. Bradley” Brad” NP (Meredith) Dillon, Staff Sergeant Chase (Renee) Dillon, and Caleb (Haley) Brink.  Great Grandchildren; Ethan Breckenridge, Cyan Sanderson, Asia Hoyt, Jacob Avery, Ryleigh Avery, Vincent Dillon, Selena Dillon, Isabella Dillon, Sterling Dillon, Eva Dillon, Aria Dillon, and Amy-Grace Brink.

Bud grew up in Caledonia, Ms. He graduated from Elon College in North Carolina. He proudly served in the US Navy and the Korean War. He retired from the US Navy in which he was stationed upon the USS Boxer. He was a mason who he learned all his masonry and carpentry skills from his father. He was also the Chief Of Detectives for the Columbus Police Department from which he also retired. He was an expert marksman and polygraph examiner.  Bud thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands. Loved yard work. He really enjoyed antiquing with his beloved Dot. He also enjoyed restoring cabins. Bud loved his family so much. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished grandfather, and a real-life angel to who all knew him.
