HELEN WILLIS

Helen Jo Willis, age 71, of Columbus, MS, passed away February 26, 2021, at her residence.  Graveside services will be Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Blaylock Cemetery, 2400 Blaylock Rd., Sulligent, AL, 35586, with Chaplain Melvin Mordecai officiating.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 903 College St. location is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Willis was born March 23, 1949, in Blythville, AR, to the late Joe and Irene Owens Clowers.  She was raised in Chicago, IL, and called Caledonia and Columbus home for over 50 years.  Her enjoyments included making her home for her husband, Bob Willis, and 3 fur babies, tending to her plants and growing tomatoes for everyone to enjoy every year, family and friend gatherings, traveling with her husband and best friend, Ms. Jill Mann, to partake in the penny machines to Tunica Casino, researching her family ancestry, discovering new facts and meeting and connecting with family, crocheting and needle point, writing poetry, and meeting her favorite musician Willie Nelson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Darnell Clowers and Clifford Clowers, sisters, Barbara Richards and Vicki Clowers, and step sons, Terry Willis and Art Willis.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Willis of Columbus, MS, children, Alecia Seymer-Riley (Tommy) of Osceola, AR, Scott E. Sudduth of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Monica Sudduth-Friloux ((Michael) of Metairie, LA, stepson, Randy Willis (Suzanne) of Austell, GA, brother, Donald Clowers of St. Charles, MO, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and best friend and close family friend, Ms. Jill Mann of Columbus, MS.
