Goldia Dunn Hart

Goldia Hart, a long-time resident of Columbus, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at her residence.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2 nd Avenue North. A Graveside and Celebration of life service will follow immediately at Friendship Cemetery with the Reverend Byron Benson officiating.

Goldia is preceded in death by her parents Gena and Tennyson Dunn, brothers John Tennyson Dunn, David Dunn, Larry Dunn, and Woodie Dunn and sisters Nancy Jeanine Dunn, Maree Chapman, and Jesie-Lee Stringer.

She is survived by her sister Rose Esther Crenshaw of Demopolis, AL, her son Rick Hart(Joan) of Gallion, AL and her daughter Linda Sneed (Tom) of Columbus, MS. She is also survived by her grandchildren Melinda Sneed Loew (Jeff), Ben Hart, Sam Hart (Rebekah), Elizabeth Buckles (Daniel), Kell Sneed and great grandchildren Katelyn and Taylor Lowe, and Rachel and Abel Buckles.

Born October 7, 1928 in Lasca, AL, Goldia graduated from Sweetwater High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Jackson, AL where she married the love of her life, Jim Hart. While her husband operated and owned Auto Parts Stores, she worked as a secretary and devoted her life to raising her two children.

Goldia had a smile that could light up a room. She was a master seamstress and created beautiful outfits for her daughter, and she enjoyed a bowling league well into her 80’s. She was a member of East End Baptist Church for almost 60 years and served her church faithfully by volunteering for many years. Her grandchildren were her delight in her senior years.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Buckles, Jimmy Chapman, John Dunn, Ben Hart, Sam Hart and Kell Sneed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
