Ginger Hite

Virginia (Ginger) Williams Hite passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Ginger was born on September 9, 1935 in Columbus Mississippi. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Buxton Thorne and Virginia Fraser Williams and also her brother Buxton Thorne Williams, jr.

Ginger grew up in Columbus Mississippi and graduated from S.D. Lee High School where she was a member of the high school band as a majorette and a saxophone player. Classes of the 1950s stayed close and reunited often through 2020. After attending summer school at Mississippi State College. She attended David Lipscomb University, in Nashville, where she met her husband William Edward Hite, lll. After the birth of their daughter Elizabeth, the family moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where Emily, Virginia and Edward were born.

Ginger loved being a realtor in Jackson MS for over 20 years working for friends and clients. Earlier while living in Atlanta, she served in the HUD officer-teacher position helping others obtain ownership of homes. Later, back in Jackson, she was a volunteer at the Mississippi State Capitol meeting new visitors there from all over the world. She was a member of the Annandale chapter of the NSDAR, Madison, Mississippi. A long time member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ , in Jackson and in later years, a member of Lake Harbor Church of Christ. She was a member of North Atlanta, Church of Christ while in Georgia and most recently worshiped at the 7th St.Church of Christ in Columbus.

Ginger is survived by her beloved children, daughters, Elizabeth Hite Brown, Emily Hite Hicks (Dee), Virginia Hite Martello, and her son William Edward Hite, IV.
She leaves her grandsons, Vince Martello (Alison), Austin Hicks, and Aaron Brown, her granddaughters, Lauren Hicks Tomlin (Jason), and Leslie Brown Jerome (Allen). She is survived by her sister Lillian Ann Williams, and her niece Catherine "Cat" Williams and nephew Paul Williams.

Her pride and joy were her great-grandchildren Ally and Rivers Jerome, Knox, Violet, Georgia, and Woods Tomlin, and Mollie, and Joseph Martello, and Amelia Stricklin.
Burial will take place in the Fraser plot at Friendship Cemetery of Columbus, Mississippi, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Paul Bennett officiating.
