Frances Sue Goodall was gathered into God’s loving arms at her home in Columbus on July 16,
2023. Frances was born on July 28, 1933 in rural Troup, Texas to Robert and Gracie Kee. As the
youngest of nine children, her father gave her the nickname “Buckshot” reflecting both her small
size and energetic nature. She loved to go to Sunday school and memorize and recite Bible
passages, while also excelling in school. She graduated as the Valedictorian of her class at the
age of 16 and after graduation, moved to San Antonio where she attracted the attention of a
young, enlisted Airman. Harry Goodall would ultimately win Frances; heart and they were
married in 1952, remaining together until his death parted them in 2006.
Frances developed many passions and hobbies during her long life. Always an enthusiastic
homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, entertaining and was a talented seamstress and quilter. As a
collector, she loved decorating her home with little treasures she acquired from all around the
world during Harry’s 41-year military career. At home, she also enjoyed her backyard birds and
loved to read. She lovingly dedicated her time to her family but after her children were grown,
she was able to turn her attention to another passion, researching her family history. Frances
was ultimately accepted into several ancestral societies, including the National Society of
Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, Descendants of Ancient
Planters, and the Daughters of 1812.
Frances had a strong faith and shared it by teaching children’s Sunday School in several of the
Baptist Churches they attended. After moving to Columbus ten years ago, she joined Fairview
Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Sunday School with ladies her own age until her declining
health kept her at home.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Harry, and her firstborn son, Michael. She is
survived by her son, Randy (Joyee), her daughter, Rhonda White (Ed), and her son, Richard;
and by four grandchildren: Ginny Coleman (Tommy), Matthew White (Jennifer), Elizabeth Wilde
(John), and Michael Goodall (Gabby). She also leaves a legacy of seven great-grandchildren:
Leslee, Lucas and Leon White, and Mason, Jensen, Corinne and Madeleine Wilde, who
affectionately knew her as GG
Frances will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her witty nature and her humble charm.
She will be interred alongside her husband at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery in San
Antonio, Texas.
