Florence Adair Nation, age 90, passed away February 16, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Columbus, MS. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Jenkins officiating and Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory directing.
Florence was born January 8, 1935, in Columbus, MS, to the late John Adair and Dezzi Yarbrough Adair. She was a graduate of Lee High School and retired from the City of Columbus, where she served as the mayor's secretary for 33 years. Florence was well known as the go-to person if you need information or want something done. She knew everybody and who to call to get things taken care of. When she picked up the phone, things happened!
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her son, Buddy Hall. She is survived by her husband, Bill Nation, daughter, Cynthia (Cissy) Hawkins (Danny), grandson, Jordan Hawkins (Macy), special "nieces" Anna Beers (Nick) and Mary Ellen Scott (Brandon) and "great niece" Waverly Scott.
Florence loved her family, and she loved to fish. She was a founding member of the Bass-N-Gals Fishing Club, and along with her daughter, she fished the Boat Gallery Tournament Circuit for several years.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Crystal of Baptist Hospice for the love and support she showed toward Florence and her family over the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 3033 Ridge Road, Columbus, MS, 39705.
