ETOYLE BRACKIN

Etoyle Prescott Brackin, age 95, of Caledonia, MS, went to the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2021.  She is survived by her brother, Ed Prescott of Columbus, her children, daughters, Joan Mouchett (Jackie) and Brenda Buchanan (Hubert), both of Caledonia, sons, Dennis (Babs) of Savannah, TN, Joe (Stephanie) of Savannah, GA, Michael (Donna) of Eupora, MS, and Tim of Caledonia, MS.  She was also blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Her life was her family.  She was a devoted wife to Joe, who preceded her in death in 1996, after 54 years of marriage.  She and Joe were generous people, putting their children first and being caregivers to numerous family members throughout their lives, while stretching the family budget to ensure that the children and other family members in their home were never in need.  Etoy's strong will was evident as a young mother during WWII when with little money and never having been more than a few miles from home before, she with her infant daughter boarded a train to Boston to visit Joe prior to his being shipped overseas.  That strength and devotion to family helped carry Etoy through Joe's being wounded and his recuperation, then through raising six kids, helping with grandkids, and finally braving the loss of Joe, to live another 25 years.  In those later years, her church family at Border Springs Baptist Church was near and dear to her, providing much company and comfort.

She was a good soul who loved to laugh, disliked any confrontation, and wanted nothing more than for everyone to get along together.  We will miss her cooking and hosting family meals, her "supervising", her "ways", and mostly her spirit.  the Lord now has the blessed souls of both Joe and Etoy, together again.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel 903 College St. location with Rev. Dan Louman and Rev. David Westmoreland officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Ebenezer Cemetery near Fernbank, AL.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
