Elzie Ray Murphy

Elzie Ray Murphy, age 86, died peacefully at his residence in Caledonia, MS, on December 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Robinson Murphy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, at 11:00 at Memorial Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00. Burial will be at Egger Cemetery. Bro. Melvin Howton will conduct the service with Bro. Matt Mouring assisting. 

Elzie was born on March 16, 1938, to the union of George and Viola Murphy. He was the last surviving sibling of eleven children. He was a lifelong resident of Caledonia and graduated from Caledonia High School in 1957 where he was a member of the first football team. 

Elzie was a devoted member of Kolola Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He supported the family he loved by working at Redd Pest Control and as a contractor and handy man. He enjoyed woodworking, building projects, camping, hunting, and fishing. 

Mr. Murphy leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Sharon Murphy Garriga (Carey), son, Tim Murphy (Wanda), grandchildren, Brandon Garriga (Lauren), Kari Ann Garriga (Graham), Josh Murphy (Jessica), Stacie Murphy Coleman (Matt), great grandchildren, Grayson Garriga, Anna Peyton Garriga, Pierce Garriga, Scotlyn Murphy, Scarlett Murphy, Laila Coleman, Caroline Coleman, Ruby Coleman, Isla Woods, and Walker Woods.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Brandon Garriga, Josh Murphy, Charles Parker, Steve Speights, Larry Braisher, Ben Hardin, and Matt Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Kolola Springs Baptist Church.
