Elizabeth (Liz) Wilkins

Elizabeth Ann Jones Wilkins, age 92, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was a loving Christian mother, who knew and loved the Lord. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her church family, and her friends. Services will be held Wednesday, March 22, at 2:00 at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Moore officiating; burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be held Wednesday one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Mrs. Wilkins was born February 23, 1931 in Monroe County, MS to the late Robert Lee and Mattie Mason Jones. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1948. She married William Wilkins, Sr. in 1950. As the wife of a career soldier, she lived in several different states and in Germany moving to Columbus from Munich, Germany in 1968. She retired from the Civil Service after many years serving with her last duty station being the Columbus Air Force Base. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, and served Calvary Baptist for many years volunteering with projects for the church. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband William (Bill) Wilkins, Sr., two brothers, Robert Jones and Curtis Jones, three sisters, Mary Lee Tierman, Mary Jane Murphy, and Mabel Franks. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Wilkins Jones and son-in-law Wayne, Newburgh, IN; son, William (Bill) Wilkins, Jr. and daughter-in-law Frankie, Columbus, and her grandchildren Haley Jones, Kathryn (Michael) Debenham, Chris (Carly) Wilkins, and Carson Wilkins, and 4 great-grandchildren.
