Dustin Dollar

February 25, 1978 — April 16, 2021

RALPH DUSTIN DOLLAR

Dustin Dollar, age 43, left this earth to be with his Jesus on April 16, 2021.  Services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home and Crematory, 903 College Street Chapel.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Reverend B.J. Chain will be officiating with the burial following at Friendship Cemetery.

Dustin was born February 25, 1978 in Amory , MS.  He was the youngest son of Butch and Kathie Dollar.  He grew up with his two brothers, Kirk and Robbie in Columbus, MS.  From the very beginning, he loved all things sports, starting with t-ball, soccer, Gray-Y basketball, and pee wee football.  He played and played hard.  He continued playing through junior high and high school at Heritage Academy.  He was a Boy Scout member of Troop 63 led by Scoutmaster, Howard Williams.

Dustin was also very entertaining, to the delight of his classmates.  He could mimic almost anyone, including his not so amused teachers.  (George Hazard comes to mind).  He was a member of the class of 1996.  He went on to college and thoroughly enjoyed his social time there- academics, not so much.  He was a natural born salesman with his vibrant personality.  He used this talent as a sales consultant.  Dustin was presently employed at Cannon Motors of Mississippi in West Point.  He was loved and fun to be around, according to all of his co-workers who tried their best to save his life when he fell ill at work on April 2, 2021.

He married Jodie Baker in 2002 and they had two children together: Jackson, age 18, and Arlin-Kate, age 13.  Though divorced, Jodie and Dustin remained friends and respected each other.

Dustin was a Mississippi State fan from childhood up.  It did not matter what sport, which game, he loved his Bulldogs.  Whenever State and Ole Miss played games the same day against different teams, if State won and Ole Miss lost, he would always say "We won a doubleheader today!"  Of course, when MS State was losing, you did not want to be around him!

He loved God, his children, and his family deeply.  He loved movies, the Braves, and the Dallas Cowboys.  He loved music, nature, and especially hanging out with his friends and their kids.  As Arlin-Kate and Jackson grew, and began to participate in sports, Dustin was right there to mentor them by coaching and umpiring their teams.  He was so proud that his son Jackson had signed to play ball at Holmes Junior College as a closing pitcher and was anticipating watching him.  He was also looking forward to Jackson's high school graduation, where he maintained a 4.0 grade point average.  He was also proud of his beautiful daughter, Arlin-Kate, who has his sense of humor and wit.  He loved his Mississippi cousins: Quinn Brislin, Lee Kathryn McAnally, Lauren Hatfield, and the late Ryan Parker; and his Arkansas cousins: Brannon Haney, Brett Haney, Tyler Haney, Sarah Haney, Andrea Haney Duvall, and Allen Haney.

Dustin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, USA since the cradle.  He also had served the church as a deacon.

Dustin is survived by his son Jackson Dalton Dollar; daughter, Arlin-Kate Dollar; Father, Ralph "Butch" Dollar; mother, Kathie Quinn Dollar; and brothers, Richard Kirk Dollar and Robert "Robbie" Dollar.

Honorary pallbearers are Troy Baker, Taft Baker, John Beard, Johnathan Breckenridge, Quinn Brislin, Kevin Evans, Michael Foster, Brad Haines, Dee Haynes, Dustin BiggWorm Nichols, David Reily, Larry Stone, and all employees of Cannon Motors of Mississippi in West Point.
