DURELL HOMAN

Durell Homan, age 98, died Sunday February 2, 2020 at Vineyard Court Nursing Home in Columbus. Services will be held Sunday February 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the 716 2 nd Ave North Chapel of Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Cummins officiating; burial with U.S. Navy honors, will follow at Greenhill Memorial Gardens in Reform, AL. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Homan was born on February 27, 1921 in Millport, Alabama to the late Lindsey Strickland (Doc) Homan and Florence Kelly Homan. He was a member of McBee Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a retired employee of Baldor Electric, and Shipley’s Donuts. He enjoyed riding horses, gardening that he shared with the community, and watching Alabama football. Mr. Homan loved God, his family and his friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Nell Bobitt Homan, his sisters, Mozell Shaw, Lou Ellen Wilson, Helen McCool, Aline (Obedie) Shelton, and Minnie (Stub) Hudson, and his brothers, Lewis Homan, and Jessie Homan, and his son-in-law Joe Farley.
