Doris Burke Conner, 90, passed in peace on May 23, 2021, at Trinity Health Care Center.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, from 5-8pm at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home and Crematory, 716 Second Avenue North location. Services will follow at 11am on Wednesday, May 26, at the Caledonia Church on Main where she is a member. Burial will be in Egger Cemetery.

Mrs. Conner was born February 19, 1931, in Caledonia, MS, to the late Ila Lockhart Burke and Raymond Edward Burke. She worked as both a cosmetologist and cafeteria manager for Caledonia Schools for many years. She finally retired from Chromalox in Vernon, Al in the mid 90’s. She went on to pursue higher education and graduated from MUW in 2002 with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Science. She joined the Long Blue Line and was an inspiration to many. She enjoyed cooking, “making” music, dancing, and fellowship. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her spitfire personality, stories from the past, and her smile will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Conner; brother, Charles Burke; nephew, Mitch Burke; and great-nephew Josh Stewart. She is survived by her daughter, Anita McKee (Jeffrey); sister, Martha Burke Dyer; grandchildren, Amber Jones, Kayla McKee, Ryleigh McKee, and Ashton McKee; great-grandchild, Ella Burke Jones; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend PFC Bradford Freeman.

Pallbearers are Jason Dyer, Jess Stewart, Jake Stewart, David Gaddy, Ashton McKee, Stephen Sutton. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Darnell, Wayne Robinson, Peter Martin, David Martin, Stuart Martin, and the members of the Caledonia Church on Main.
