Dorothy Sansing Conley

November 25, 1933 — November 8, 2021

Dorothy Marie Conley, 87 of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home early Monday morning, November 8, 2021.

Dorothy (Dot) Marie Graham was born in Millport, AL on November 25th, 1933, the child of Roy Lee and Oma Duke Graham. Her father moved the family to Columbus, MS to open a grocery store in the 1940s. Dot was athletic and excelled quickly in any sports she pursued. As a teen, she would sneak away to play basketball since her mother didn’t approve of the player’s short shorts. She later became an excellent bowler, a lifelong golf player, and a golf instructor garnering six holes-in-one.

Dot graduated from Stephen. D. Lee High School in 1953. She pursued several careers and enjoyed working for Robert’s travel agency the most. She often talked about her trips around the world. Dot married James Sansing of Columbus and they had three boys. She later married Richard Conley of Minneapolis, MN who took her and her boys to North and South Dakota and Arkansas. She devoured books when she was not playing golf with her friends. She was independent, confident, and a pillar of strength and love for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Kitty Taylor, brother Sidney Graham, her sister Jewel Weldon, and her husband Richard Conley.  She is survived by her sons Terry Sansing, James Sansing, and Henry Sansing and by her grandchildren Sandy Sansing, Terry Sansing, Adam Sansing, Joshua Sansing, Sidney Sansing, Christopher Wharton, and Michelle Robbins and by great-grandchildren Russell, Ezekiel, Caden, and Olivia Wharton, Kylie Garrett, Damien, Aubrey, Isabella, and Adalynn Sansing and Olivia Carver.

Services will be held at St. Stephens United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Andy Tentoni.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: Memorial Giving
