Mrs. Doris Lawrence Dailey, 88, of Columbus, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2 nd Avenue North location. A memorial service, with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating, will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in the chapel of Memorial Gunter Peel, 2 nd Avenue North. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
The daughter of the late John B. and Luna Mae Burns Lawrence, Mrs. Dailey was born March 5, 1931 in Ethelsville, AL. She attended MSCW, now MS University for Women and worked professionally as a medical stenographer for many years. She met her husband while both were working in Saudi Arabia. Later on, she assisted her husband, Dr. Frank Dailey, in his medical practice. She was a member of First Baptist Church and an avid bridge player. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John B. Lawrence, Jr., her sister Helen Harrington and a stepdaughter Deborah Joan Dailey.
Mrs. Dailey is survived by her husband Dr. Frank Harrison Dailey of Columbus and her children Theresa Holliman Knight (Dewey) of Oxford, Willard Holliman, Jr. and Thomas Lawrence Holliman, both of Columbus and Lisa Holliman McCain (Greg) of Eupora. She is also survived by her stepchildren Robert Charles Dailey and ex-wife Nancy Dailey, Frank William Dailey, Helena Louisa Dailey, all of CA, and Catherine Ann Dailey (Andrew Cole) of Princeton, NJ and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Dessie Lawrence of Columbus.
