David William Laster
David William Laster passed from this life to be with his heavenly father August 3, 2021.
David was born in Chicot County in Dermott, Arkansas on July 21, 1953 to Don & Carolyn Laster. He was raised on a rice farm until joining the United States Army at the age of 17, where he was stationed in Germany.
After returning home from the Army, David joined his father in the family business driving 18 wheelers cross country. He had a passion for big trucks that took him to all of the States except for Hawaii. He also was a certified Millwright, certified welder, licensed Realtor and worked with a local electric company before retiring in 2016.
David also had a love for motorcycles, guns, and most of all for his family and especially his grandchildren!
He was predeceased in death by his first wife, Ester Jane Blakeney Laster; his parents Don Franklin Laster and Carolyn Hogue Laster, and a brother Roger Franklin Laster.
He is survived by his wife Angela Howton Laster of Caledonia; Three sons: William Seth Laster (Elizabeth) of Steens, John Franklin Laster (Brynn) of Columbus, and Justin Scott Blakeney of San Antonio, TX; Honarary Daughter Jessica Brooke Dennis; Sister Donna Barnard (Joe) of Vicksburg, MS; Brother Michael Laster of Dermott, Arkansas; Mother-In-Law Mary Ann Howton; Sisters-In-Law Nancy Nenneau (Rick) of Dubois, PA and Susan McIntyre (John) of Columbus; Brother-In-Law Mel Howton (Annette) of Steens. Twelve Grandchildren: William Tyson Laster, Alexis Ann Laster, Maddox Douglas Cash Gingell, Jaidyn Putnam, Leah Grace Laster, Rileigh Addison Laster, Jace Blakeney Laster, Harrison Putnam, Jayce Putnam, Swayze Jean Laster, MC Rowdy Fowler, Abbie Brownlee and one Great Grand Child Kipton Reed Brownlee.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Betty Crim, Carol Jackson, Don Harding, Elbert & Carol Wheat, Mike and Bonnie Williams, Sam & Lisa Blaylock, Melissa Carney, Aimee Shaw, Rob Malone, Josh Sansing, Allen Jones, Mitch Mitchell, Steve Pierce, Charles Culpepper, Joe Barnard, and Former members of the Youth Groups of North Columbus Church of God and Caledonia Baptist Church.
David will be sorely missed by many and was loved by all!
A memorial service will be held Saturday August 7, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Mel Howton officiating; visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
