LOU MCREE
Clara Louise McRee, age 95, of Columbus died Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at Trinity Personal Care.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, November 7th, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus, MS. Reverend Jimmy Criddle, Reverend Anne Russell Bradley, and Reverend Aislinn Kopp will be officiating.

Lou McRee was born on February 14, 1926 in Columbus, Mississippi to Roger Clifton McRee Sr and Clara Belle Wood McRee. She attended Demonstration School on the MUW campus and S. D. Lee High School where she graduated 5th in her class in 1943. She graduated from Mississippi University for Women in 1947 with a degree in Bacteriology and Chemistry.

After college Lou took the test to become a Registered Medical Technologist. She was a member of the American Society of Medical Technologists and worked as Louise McRee MT (ASCP), for 44 years serving 22 years at Doster Hospital and 22 years at Baptist Hospital both in Columbus, MS.
While at MUW, Lou was a member of the Wesley Foundation. Her years at the “W” were some of her fondest memories of which she spoke often.
She was a member of the Pilot Club, the First United Methodist Church, the Stuckenschneider Sunday School Class, and the Keenagers. When Lou retired she often did volunteer work at First United Methodist Church and loved visiting church members and friends who were home bound or lived in nursing homes.

She enjoyed seeing her friends and former co-workers while eating at the Baptist Hospital Cafeteria for many years after she retired.
One of Lou’s interests was family genealogy. Lou will be remembered as “authentic”, a loving and caring friend, a hard worker, and a faithful Christian servant.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Clifton McRee Sr and Clara Belle Wood McRee; her brother RC McRee Jr, and wife Vivian Ball McRee.

Survivors include nephew Roger Wesley McRee, (Ellen) of Waveland, MS, Cousins Elaine Wood Freeman of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Robert Wood, (Sally) of Madison, MS, Don Wood of Sarasota, Florida and Pete Wood, (Jean) of Ellisville, Mississippi.
Special thanks to the Staff of Garden Hill, Trinity Personal Care, Encompass Health-Hospice, and sitters; Celia Bankhead, Mamie Lowery, Anette Webber, and Temiria Jones.
