Charlotte Merle Crowe Burks, age 82 died Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Avonlea Assisted Living in Tupelo. Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 3:30 PM at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday March 24, 2019 from 2PM until 3PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home 2 ^nd Ave N.

Mrs. Burks was born on Friday, January 08, 1937 in Fayette, AL to the late Walter Furman and Amy Harkins Crowe. She was a member of East End Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She moved to Columbus at age 4. She attended Franklin Academy and graduated from New Hope High School. The Army career of her late husband Jackie L. Burks, Sr. took them to Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, Alaska, Georgia, Mississippi and Hawaii. His retirement in 1975 brought them home to Columbus and later Aberdeen.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Crowe Belcher, and her brothers, Dennis Crowe and Jerry Crowe.
