ROLAND PERKINS – Charles “Roland” Perkins, age 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away January 3, 2020, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be Monday, January 6, 2020, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. A graveside committal will be at 3:00 PM at College Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 2 nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Perkins was born March 17, 1935, in Oxford, MS, to the late George and Clarice Murchison Galloway. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Perkins worked for many years in the automotive business and as a service manager for Burdine Health Services. He was a member of First Baptist Church and worked as a bailiff at the Lowndes County Courthouse.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Patricia Perkins, daughter, Georgia Williams of Caledonia, MS, step son, Dale Heppner of Doylestown, PA, step daughters, Leigh Ann Heppner of Warminster, PA, and Lynn Heppner Thornton of Gulf Breeze, FL, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Blane Williams, Chase Williams, Dale Heppner, David Shields, Eric Yoakum, Ronnie Murchison, Steve Murphree, and Steven Gammill.
