Charles E. Lee

January 28, 1923 — June 21, 2019

Charles E. Lee, 96, formerly of Columbus, died Friday, June 21, 2019 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2 nd Avenue North location. Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Friendship Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Rev. Rob Dowdle officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel.

The son of the late Fulton Ervin and Annie Woodfin Lee, Mr. Lee was born January 28, 1923 in Mashulaville, MS. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, while stationed in the Aleutian Islands and was one of the Greatest Generation of soldiers. He retired from the Frisco Railroad as a Materials Inspector, and he attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Prior to his moving to Nashville three years ago, he worked in and maintained his garden, growing several  different kinds of vegetables.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Louie Mae Lee Higginbotham, his son Billy J. Lee and his wife Mary Ruth Adams Lee.

Mr. Lee is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Charles R. “Dicky” and Linda Lee  of Mount Juliet, TN and Alvin C. and Ruth Lee  of St. Cloud, FL and two grandsons Christopher Lee ( Anna)  and Michael Scott Lee.
