April 16, 1941 — November 11, 2024

Columbus

Carol Ann Tumberlinson Seavey passed away Monday, November 11th , 2024 at Windsor Court Nursing Home. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am at Main Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Aaron Suber officiating.

Carol was born in Albany, New York on April 16th, 1941 to the late Frances A. and Reuben L. Tumberlinson. She was a graduate of S.D. Lee High School and MSCW. Her work career included employment at Pryor’s, Fitzner Pontiac and the flight simulator at CAFB where she retired after 22 years of service and was known, along with several other ladies she worked with, for taking care of everyone from the pilots, instructors, sim operators and fellow employees!

In 1976, she met the love of her life, Lt Col Marvin F. Seavey (ret) and they celebrated 33 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2011. They loved working together at CAFB for many years, traveling and trying new restaurants, with the beach being their favorite. After Marv’s passing, she continued her love of travel with a group guided by Purpose Driven Tours who became dear friends and were like family.  They enjoyed numerous wonderful trips around the country from seeing the annual changing of the leaves in New England, racing around the Charlotte Motor Speedway in NC to witnessing the magnificent Niagara Falls and, of course, shopping was always involved!!

We will miss our mom, nana, friend and co-worker deeply for her presence, love and character that she shared with all. One of those ways she may most be missed is by not having what Christopher and Brandon, as children, fondly called her “stash”—a bowl of candy and snacks she always had at home and work for all to enjoy and one of the many ways “she took care of everyone”!

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Newton, of Columbus, her beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Natalie) of Rockwall, Tx and Brandon Newton of The Woodlands, TX. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Kinsley and Hunter of Rockwall, TX.

Memorials may be made to: Main Street Presbyterian Church P.O. Box 26 Columbus, MS 39703
