CARL STEWART

Carl William Stewart, age 92, of Steens, MS, passed away December 18, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Friday, December 24, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel 903 College St. location with Rev. Bobby Sanderson officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Stewart was born July 20, 1929, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Jessie Green and Fanny Lee Rogers Stewart.  He was a veteran of Korea and retired from the United States Navy.  Mr. Stewart also served in the United States Air Force and retired from civil service after 19 years from Columbus Air Force Base.  He was a mason and a Baptist, and in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Stewart, and daughter, Cheryl Stewart.

Survivors include his son, Roy M. Stewart and his wife Marilyn of Peru, NY, grandchildren, Chris Ludy and his wife Haley of Columbus, MS, Kim Meckley of Eagle, ID, and Jason Stewart and his wife Marnie of Springfield, VA, great grandchildren, Grant Michael Stewart, Cameron Ludy, Cayley Ludy, Cassidy Ludy, Cooper Meckley, Ryan Meckley, and Liam Meckley, and great great granddaughter, Kai Ludy.

Pallbearers will be John Holliman, Stanley Taggart, Jacob Hawkins, Jason Collins, Chris Horton, and Brandon Wollen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Gallop, Bill Holliman, and Doug Blunt.
