BOYD SHANKS

Boyd Eugene Shanks, age 81, of Columbus, MS , passed away September 12, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel 716 2 ^nd Ave. North location.  The interment will immediately follow at Oktibbeha Memorial Garden Park.  Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2020, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 ^nd Ave. North location.

Mr. Shanks was born April 25, 1939, in Artesia, MS, to the late Dewey and Earline Smith Shanks.  He was a bee keeper and farmer for many years and attended the Artesia United Methodist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Shanks, Alton Shanks, Samuel Shanks, and sister, Bertha Thrasher.

Survivors include his son, Boyd “Bubba” Shanks, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Shannon, MS, daughters, Gloria Berry and her husband Ray of Columbus, MS, and Windy Raines and her fiancé Chris Miller of Columbus, MS, sister, Ann Minor of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Chris Berry, Kala Berry, Breeze Whitmore, Brandon Whitmore, Breanna Raines, Corey Shanks, and Cheyeene Ellzey, and 4 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Berry, Brandon Whitmore, Freddie Minor, Dwayne Wooten, Arthur Pugh, and Frankie Pugh.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Berry, Chris Miller, Bubba Brown, and Doug and Jean Yelverton.
