BOBBY GALE

Robert Wesley “Bobby” Gale, age 81, of Columbus, MS, passed away August 29, 2020, at Windsor Place.  Graveside services will be Monday, August 31, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery of Steens, MS, with Rev. Don Both, Rev. Steve Brown, and Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gale was born October 30, 1938, in Desoto County, MS, to the late Edward Banks and Rebecca Graham Gale.  He was a graduate of Lee High School and was a former member of the 31rst Dixie Division Artillery of the Mississippi National Guard.  Mr. Gale retired as former Chief of the Columbus Fire Department and also served as Chief of Public Safety at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport for a number of years.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Banks Gale, Jr. and John William Gale.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Burns Gale of Columbus, MS, son, Todd Gale and his wife Stephanie of Columbus, MS, and grandchildren, Robert Gunnar Gale and Stormy McLain Gale.

Pallbearers will be Joey Hudnall, Bubba Tom Wolford, Web Gholson, John Robert Gale, Bronson Banks Gale, and Mark Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Prescott, Bert Chain, Tommy Southerland, Curry Freeman, Ronnie Smith, Bob Cook, Eldon Denard, Charlie Watkins, Sherman Meadows, Dwight Colson, Donnie Newman, Lamar Kemp, Wayne Duncan, Jerry Gibson, Hubert Buckanan, John Hubbard, Sam Wade, and Ralph McLain.  The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the nurses and staff of Windsor Place, especially Tammy Tate, Tammy Samuel, and Leigh Douglas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38101 .
