BOBBIE HOOD
Bobbie J. Hood, age 85, of Brentwood, TN, formerly of Columbus, MS, Amory, MS and Dallas, TX passed away January 20, 2019 in Franklin, TN surrounded by family. Memorial services will be Monday, January 28, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel College St. location with Rev. Kenny Gardner Officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Hood was born November 16, 1933, in Dallas, TX, to the late Robert E. and Mary Etta Smith Jones. Mrs. Hood worked at Collins Radio in Richardson, TX, Amory Manor in Amory, MS, Diversified Investments in Tupelo, MS., Fantasy II and Shirley & Co. in Columbus, MS. She worked numerous side jobs the majority of her life, often juggling three at a time so the list is too long to detail, but the Mexican Kitchen in Columbus, MS, the Frisco Kitchen in Amory, MS and The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas, TX were three notables where she no doubt brightened everyone’s day.
Mrs. Hood or Bobbie as she preferred was a kind and generous Soul. She modeled character, responsibility, attention to detail and a work ethic second to none. She loved to laugh and kept her sense of humor through most every challenge with which life can test us, including loss of an adult child, life threatening illness and in later years an aging body and failing memory. And oh how her eyes sparked when she laughed! She lit up the room.
She was a loyal friend who enjoyed decades long friendships of all ages. Known for her compassionate and non judgmental ear, she was innately wise and could offer comfort or the most practical advice based in experience - because she had lived it all. Her friendships extended to animals and she was a staunch protector and advocate for all of our four legged friends.
Possessing a generous heart, she loved her family deeply. Acts of Service was her primary Language of Love and she served her family well. She adored her daughters-in-law and son-in-law as much as the children she birthed and they adored her. That just may be one of the biggest testaments to who she was, how she lived her life and the way she walked in the world.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents: her son Dennis East of Columbus, MS, her daughters in law, Karen East of Carrollton, TX, Sandra East of Columbus, MS and Janet East of Carrollton, TX, granddaughter-in-law Jennifer East of Columbus, MS; as well as her beloved sister Dorothy Corrine Collie, of North Little Rock, AR.
