BOB REYNOLDS

Robert Eugene “Bob” Reynolds, age 90, of Columbus, MS, closed his eyes on December 17, 2020, and went to his heavenly home in this world for the final time, he opened them in the peace and presence of Jesus.  There will be a private graveside service on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Criddle and Rev. Anne Russell Bradley officiating.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Bob was born in Winona, MS, to Mary Sherman Reynolds and Robert Hewitt Reynolds.  He had one brother, Charles Edward Reynolds, deceased.  He graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1948.  Bob then went on to serve in the military service for three years in the Army Intelligence Corp.  Upon completion of service to his country he continued in his studies receiving a degree in engineering from Mississippi State University in 1955.

Bob’s career in engineering began with American Bosch in Columbus, MS , and in 1968 he transferred to accept a role as Vice President for Seminole Manufacturing Company where he worked until 1985.  Changing roles he accepted positions with the Lowndes County Port to serve as Port Administrator and Port Director until 1998.  Bob also served on the Board of Mississippi Economic Development Council and as the Director and Vice President of the Mississippi Water Resources Association.

Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church and former president of the Lewis Fellowship Class.  He was an avid golfer and served as board member of the Mississippi Senior Golf Association.

Bob’s first love was his family and leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Elaine Jernigan Reynolds, his two daughters, Stacy Palmer Williams and her husband Michael, and Weslyn Reynolds, and two grandchildren, Robert Norris Palmer and Charlotte Layne Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Palmer, Ken Kennedy, Dewitt Hicks, Fred Hall, Tommy Tate, Frank Griffin, Mitch Griffin, Michael Williams, Henry Weiss, Garland Robinette, Torrey Cochrane, John Latham, Brenda Williams, Dr. James Woodard, and member of the Lewis Fellowship Class.  The family would like to acknowledge and thank Kindred Health Care, Aberdeen Behavioral Center, Windsor Place, and the Veterans Administration.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
