BILLY FLOORE Ret. Ltc. Billy Floore age 95 died Wednesday June 15, 2022 at his residence in Columbus, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, Mississippi under the direction of Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory with Father Jason Shelby officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The interment will immediately follow at the memorial garden of the church. Mr. Floore was born March 27, 1927, in Golson, MS, to the late Hosea and Loraine Palmer Floore. He was a Retired Lt. Colonel in the US Army, proudly serving his country in WW II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. A man of quiet faith, he was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Columbus, Mississippi. He met and then married Jean Allums Floore on March 9, 1958 in Columbus, Georgia and they remained happily married until his passing. He was a proud graduate of Mississippi State University. Billy had great wisdom and a wonderful sense of humor, He enjoyed playing golf and following all Mississippi State sports. Above all, his passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were his world. In addition to his parents, Mr. Floore was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Dunn; and his brothers, Harold Floore, and Cary “Buddy” Floore. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Jean Allums Floore; his son, Kenny Floore (Susan) of Pineville, Louisiana; his “ like a daughter”, Claudia Holcomb of Duluth, Georgia; his grandchildren, Masa Floore Hensley (Dylan) of Columbus, MS, Anna Karis Floore (Sammy Taylor Pierce) of Lakewood, Washington, and Reid Floore (Tegan Parker) of Orlando, FL; his great grandchildren, Bowen and Mera Hensley of Columbus, MS; his brother, Homer Floore of Saraland, Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Columbus, MS, the Alzheimer’s association, or a charity of one’s choice.
