Billy Gene Bowen, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at his residence in Caledonia. A memorial service will be held on June 6, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Rutledge officiating. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2nd Ave. North location has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Bowen was born on October 1, 1942, in Ackerman to the late J.D. and Ida Mae Cummings Bowen. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a tournament fisherman. Bill loved dealing and restoring old cars. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a retired Director of Maintenance from American Nonwoven.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Sumrall and brother, Lonnie Bowen.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bowen of Caledonia; sons, Bobby Bowen (Martie) of Columbus and Ian Frazier (Kathleen) of Hawaii; daughter, Dawn Shaw (Kenneth) of Caledonia; brother, Bobby Bowen of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
