Betty Jane Langford of Mayhew, Mississippi

Betty Jane McCord Langford, 92, of Mayhew, died Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, 2 ^nd Avenue North location, has been entrusted with her arrangements. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Artesia Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Morgan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mayhew Cemetery.

The daughter of the late Alfred Ralph and Maude Lake McCord, Mrs. Langford was born November 14, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN. She had been a resident of Artesia since 1971. She retired in 2004 from the United States Postal Service in Mayhew as a postal clerk after 15 1/2 years of employment. She was a member of Artesia Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She had previously worked as a secretary in a  women’s clothing manufacturer in Indianapolis. She was a very good seamstress and made her own clothes.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Jim, and sisters Rosie, Barbara, Mary and Carol, one grandson Jeff Edwards and her husband Floyd Franklin Langford, who died in 1991.

Mrs. Langford is survived by her daughter Joyce Edwards (Albert) of Danville, IN, and a step-daughter Janice Amos ( Steve) of Villa Rica, GA, and two step-sons Frank Floyd Langford of Danville, IN and Gary Langford (Marianna) of Milroy, IN. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
