BETTY LAND
Betty West Oliver Land age 92 died Monday December 21, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus. A graveside service will be held Saturday December 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Jason Shelby officiating. Mrs. Land was born on May 5, 1928 in Columbus to the late John and Mary Beth West Oliver. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she served as co-chair of the spring luncheon. She was a member of the Daughters of the King and a treasured member of the Cherokee Garden Club. Mrs. Land was also a member of the “Sew It Seams” sewing club, the Bernard Romans Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, served as Docent of the S.D. Lee Home for 27 years, and a lifelong member of the Magowah Gun Club. She retired as a teacher with the Columbus School System after 33 years. She was well known for the homemade cheese straws.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Druary Land.
