Betty Denney

BETTY DENNEY-

Betty Denney, age 94, of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully at her home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home. Internment burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Denney was born July 24, 1929 to the late Bessie Power McWilliams and James Louis McWilliams. After the death of James Louis McWilliams, her mother married Lucian A. Vaughn whom Mrs. Denney loved dearly. He was her "Pop".

Mrs. Denney lived in Columbus, MS until 1959, then she moved to Florida, which she considered her home and was quick to let you know she was from Florida, where it didn't get cold.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Denney, along with her son-in-law John Miller.

She is survived by sons Louis Denney (Theresa) of Steens, MS, Paul Denney (Gracie) of Caledonia, MS. Her daughter, Debbie Miller of Ocala, FL. Grandsons, James Denney (Cheryl) of Greenville, NC, Mark Miller (Amber), of Fort Worth, TX, Shawn Miller, of Alexandria, VA, Chris Denney (Brandie), of Caledonia, MS, and Eric Denney, of Caledonia, MS. Granddaughter, Libby Forrester (J.K.), of Oxford, MS. Step-Granddaughters, Kristy Belue, of Tupelo, MS, and Kimberly Davidson (Jimmy), of Columbus, MS. Along with a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Denney graduated from S.D. Lee High School. She worked at the Columbus Dispatch after graduating.
After she and her husband moved to Florida, she went to work for Stromberg Carlson, where she retired at 62.

Mrs. Denney loved being outdoors. She loved to go fishing, where she always had to catch the most fish.
She was and avid Alabama fan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Shawn Miller, Mark Miller, James Denney, and Gentiva Hospice.
