Dr. Sarah Elizabeth (Beth) Feland went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at her home in Columbus, MS. Beth was born on December 25, 1945, in Shelbyville, KY to the late Armstead Milner Feland III and the late Nancy Clift Price Feland.
Beth grew up in Little Rock, AR and graduated from Hall High School. She attended the University of Arkansas where she graduated with a B.S. degree in Home Economics Nutrition. In 1973, she obtained a Doctorate degree in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Feland taught at the Mississippi University for Women (MUW) in Columbus for several years.
After her tenure at MUW, Beth began working for the Mississippi Department of Health as the Nutritionist at the Lowndes County Health Department in Columbus, MS. Then, in 1986, Dr. Feland was promoted to District Nutritionist Supervisor for the District IV Tombigbee Public Health Office in Starkville, MS. Beth retired in 2004 with 30 years of service. Her love for others and desire to help others served her well in her role as supervisor.
Beth loved her family dearly. She is survived by her three brothers: Armstead (Jane) Feland IV of Colorado Springs, CO, John (Ginger) Feland of Fayetteville, AR, and Will (Tiffany) Feland of Cabot, AR. She was so very proud of her four nieces and four nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Beth was a member of First Presbyterian Church USA in Columbus, MS . She served two terms as a deacon (1989-1991 and 1994-1996). She also served as an usher. Beth loved her Lord and served Him faithfully through her church and through Loaves and Fishes.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020, in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church, on Bluecutt Road in Columbus, MS from 1:00—2:00 p.m. A private memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, MS. Interment will be in the Church’s Columbarium.
