Annette Stevens

Carol Annette Barrar Stevens, age 85, of Gulf Shores, AL, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away December 15, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Sanderson officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.

 Mrs. Stevens was born February 25, 1939, in Darlove, MS, to the late Charlie Mathew and Wilda Helen Bagley Knight. She was a graduate of Thomasville, AL, High School and the University of Alabama. Mrs. Stevens received her masters degree from the University of Florida then went back to the University of Alabama where she received her doctorate degree. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Barrar of Columbus, MS, and Steve Stevens. While living in Columbus, Mrs. Stevens served as the Dean of Nursing at the Mississippi University for Women.

 Survivors include her brothers, Renard Knight of Gulf Shores, AL, and Robert Knight of Thomasville, AL, sisters, Barbara Logston of Lakeland, FL, Mary Etta Wells of Grove Hill, AL, and Alene Reid of Wetumtka, AL, and many nieces and nephews.

 Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
