Alice Lawrence

Alice Smith Prescott Lawrence, age 73, of Ethelsville, AL, passed away March 23, 2024, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Elder Herb Hatfield, Elder John Corder, and Elder David Lawrence officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Rowan Cemetery of Caledonia.  Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
Mrs. Lawrence was born September 29, 1950, in Columbus, MS, to the late James Harold and Catherine Carr Smith.  She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School.  Mrs. Lawrence worked as a nurse for 30 years having worked for 13 years at Bryce State Mental Hospital of Tuscaloosa, AL, and also worked as Director of Nursing at various nursing homes in Aberdeen, Columbus, and Vernon.  She was a member of the Mayhew Primitive Baptist Church, and in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Prescott, and great niece, Zeda Smith.
Survivors include her husband, David Lawrence of Ethelsville, AL, brother, James H. "Jimbo" Smith, Jr. and his wife, Kay, of Columbus, MS, great niece, Mara Smith, and great nephew, Jeradd Baker.
Pallbearers will be Logan Geiger, Jeradd Baker, Blake Prescott, Stacy Halverson, Josh Halverson, and Zack Halverson.
Memorials may be made to the Mayhew Primitive Baptist Church, 842 U. S. Hwy 45 Alternate, Starkville, MS, 39759.
