Hubert Earl Gilmore, age, 64, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at his residence in Columbus, MS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Don Boren officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery, Vernon, AL. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Friday, November 20, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Mr. Gilmore was born on Saturday, November 25, 1944 in Columbus, MS to the late Leo and Jewel Stanford Gilmore. When he was growing up, he and his family attended the old Southside Baptist Church. A veteran of the Vietnam war, he served 4 years in the US Army, two of which were in Vietnam. He had retired as a hairdresser after 37 years in that profession. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Purvis Gilmore, a sister Wanda Wier and a grandson Jeremy Butts. He is survived by his wife Shirley Wilson Gilmore of Columbus MS, one son Devin Gilmore (Lilian), of Lavergne, TN, two daughters Renay Butts (Artis) of White Bluff, TN and Bethany Cabrera (Miguel), New York City, NY ; four brothers Royce Gilmore (Hazel), Larry Gilmore(Selma) and Lyonel Gilmore (Helen) ,all of Columbus, MS and Huey Gilmore (Mary), Pickensville, AL ; two sisters Letha Chambers, Tuscaloosa, Al and Cynthia Goldman (Raymond), Bessemer, Al. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren Allyssa Butts, Logan Blunt, Aryn Gilmore and Gabriella Gilmore and one great granddaughter Madison Pollard. The Pallbearers will be Michael Watts, Donnie Gilmore, David Gilmore, Ricky Gilmore, Lance Hearn, Gary Wier, Chris Gilmore, and Fred Haley, Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213
