Joseph R. Knoeferl, age 51, of Columbus died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital " Golden Triangle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:00AM at Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a prayer service at 12:00 PM, with Father Robert Dore officiating. Graveside services will be held at a later date at St. Marys Cemetery in East Moline, IL. The son of the late Robert Frederick and Helen Lucinda Montgomery Knoeferl, Joseph was born with Downs Syndrome April 12, 1960 in Rock Island, IL. He graduated from Black Hawk High School, a school for special needs students, in Moline and was employed at Locamarcim Italian Restaurant in Moline for 15 years. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in East Moline. He had been a resident of Columbus for six years, moving here with his mother, who died October 8, 2010. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. He was also predeceased by his father, his brother Stephen Michael Knoeferl and a sister Barbara A. Knoederl He is survived by his sisters Martha E. Donovan (Dr. James) of Columbus, MS and Patricia Sue Richardson (Jon) of Tulsa, OK. Memorials may be made to Annunciation Catholic Church, 823 College St., Columbus, MS 39701.
