Lloyd Earl Yates age 86 died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Columbus Church Of Christ with Minister Billy Ferguson, and Minister Richard Akins officiating, burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Yates was born on Tuesday, January 02, 1923 in Ripley, MS to the late William Franklin and Emma Beatrice Enlow Yates. He was a member of Columbus Church of Christ where he served as an Elder of over 35 years. He was a WWII U.S. Army/Air Corp Veteran, and a retired manager for Choctaw Inc. Mr. Yates was the last remaining sibling in a family of 15. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his wife Sara Tate Yates and one son Fred William Yates. Survivors include: Two Daughters: Mary Parker (Lonnie), Lebanon, TN Diane Cherry (Tim), Lebanon, TN One Son: Gene Yates, Columbus, MS Seven Grand Children: Brooks Cherry (Jami) Micah Yates Tara Yates Chappell (Shad) Caleb Yates Bethany Yates (Grant) Gray Yates Bart Cherry Two Great Grand Children: Blake, Blair, and Briggs Cherry Will Thomas, and Tate Chappell The Pallbearers will be: Brooks Cherry, Micah Yates, Caleb Yates, Bart Cherry, Gray Yates, Shad Chappell, Grant Norvell. The Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Lance Busch, Dr. John Whitecar, Staff & Nurses of the 3rd and 5th Floors at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle, Angie Brunkhardt, and Dennis McNairy In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Columbus Christian School 2401 7th Street North Columbus, MS 39705
