Genalice Marie Colvin Bennett , 80, died Sunday, July 05, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus MS . A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, July 08, 2009 11:00 AM at her beloved Christian Home, Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Dalrymple officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Mrs. Bennett was born April 19, 1929 in Boise, ID , to the late Cleo Lynville and Nellie Laverna Tratchen Goodman Gen, as she was fondly known by her many friends, family and patrons, was a well-known cosmetologist in the Columbus area for over 35 years. She owned and operated The Little Duchess Beauty Salon, Colvin's Academy of Cosmetolgy as well as four other salons from 1955-1976. She opened Gen Colvin's Beauty Headquarters in 1978, and it was there she worked until her retirement in 1991. She was twice president of the MHCA for the State of MS. She also served as a member of the National Hair Fashion Committee. After retiring she became a Pink Lady for Baptist Memorial and took special delight in styling and donating wigs for patients at the Cancer Center. She remarried M.E. Bennett in the year 2000 in San Jose, CA and lived there until his death in January, 2006. She was also preceded in death by two younger brothers, John and Tom Goodman. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Preston Ray (Parr) Colvin , his wife Perian and daughter Erin Petty, Caledonia, MS; Timothy Joe (Dodie) Colvin and his daughter Kaylan Marie, Columbus, Ms; Merida Emil (MEC) Colvin, his wife Rebecca and children Brittany and Lance Underwood, Ridgeland, Ms. She is also survived by her "Adopted" sons Rob Bennett and family, Jimmy Bennett and his son Chris, Gary Erickson and his family, Dustin Hunter Colvin, and Bobby Manning, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who loved "Mamma Gen". She also leaves behind her beloved Havanese puppy "Sweetie". Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael , Dr. Doyle Sumrall, Dr. Bart Williams ,Jan Chesser, Bobby Manning ,Melanie Thompson ,Ben Fones, 5th Floor Nurses Station BMH and the Adult Sunday School Class at Fairview Baptist Church
