Janice Webb Jan Holliman, age 56, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Dalrymple and Chaplain Lynn Renaldi officiating. Visitation, also at the church, will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery. The daughter of the late James Paul and Emma Jean Thomas Webb, Jan was born June 25, 1954 in Philadelphia, MS. She received her education in the Macon school system and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Prior to her illness she had completed all of the coursework for a Masters Degree in Education. She taught English, including Advanced Placement English classes, at Columbus High School for seventeen years. For the past three years she taught English at New Hope High School. She was a member of the MS State Education Committee for Testing of Teachers of English. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was predeceased in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Garion Billy Holliman, Jr. , her daughter Claire McBryde, both of Columbus and her stepdaughter Sandy Robinson(Robbie) of Atlanta, GA, her brothers James Paul Webb (Elizabeth) of Talladega, AL and John Webb (Jane) of Tuscaloosa, AL and one granddaughter Taylor Robinson. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her nephews Phillip Webb, John Webb, Shawn Webb, Andy Webb, Thomas Webb and Daniel Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Morris and the faculty and staff of New Hope High School.
