FRANK NOLAND Frank Poyas Noland age 91 died Monday, October 07, 2013 at The Arrington in Columbus. Graveside services with U.S. Marine Honors will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. Mr. Noland was born on Thursday, February 02, 1922 in Columbus, MS to the late Howard Benjamin and Annie Phillip Harris Noland. He attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Lee High School. He received a baseball scholarship at Moorhead Junior College and later attended Mississippi State University. He served in the Pacific as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service before starting a farming operation with his brother Riley, in Lowndes County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother Lt. Howard Harris Noland, a B-26 Pilot who was killed in a plane crash in England.
