Helen L. Knoeferl, age 91, of Columbus died Friday, October 8, 2010 at her daughters home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, October 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore, Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM in the Atrium of the Church. After the service, Mrs. Knoeferl will be cremated, and her cremains will be buried at a later date next to her husband of 40 years, the late Robert Frederick Knoeferl in St. Marys Cemetery in East Moline, IL. The daughter of the late William Henry and Kathryn Redicker Montgomery, Mrs. Knoeferl was born May 2, 1919 in Milton, IA. She was a longtime resident of East Moline, ILL, where she and her husband raised their five children. Mrs. Knoeferl was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church in East Moline. After the death of her daughter Barbara Ann, five years ago, she and her son Joe moved to Columbus to be near her daughter and son-in-law Martha and Dr. James E. Donovan. She then became a member of Annunciation Catholic Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Stephen Michael and a daughter Barbara Ann Knoeferl. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Paul, Howard, Elizabeth and Ruth Montgomery. Mrs. Knoeferl is survived by her daughters Martha E. Donovan (Dr. James E.) of Columbus and Patricia S. Richardson (Jon) of Tulsa, OK and her son Joseph R. Knoeferl, of Columbus and her grandchildren John Allan Fitzgerald, Christy Dawn Baker and Adam Richardson. Another grandson Jason Richardson preceded her in death.
