Dwight M. Watts Sr. Columbus Mississippi - Dwight M. Watts Sr. 90 died September 1, 2005 at his residencein Columbus MS. Mr. Watts was born November 16, 1914 in Canton Mississippi to the late Charles Dudley and Emma Anderson Watts. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a 1941 graduate of Mississippi State University. After college he entered the the U.S. Navy and received his commision while serving in the Pacific area for 4 years. After his military service he taught school in Shelby Mississippi and Oktibbeha County School Districts. He owned and operated Watts Furniture Store and was a licensed real estate agent from 1954 until his death. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Mildred Evelyn Watts and two brothers Eman Watts and C.D. Watts. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.. Funeral services will be Sunday September 4, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. from Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul McDonald officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Mary Gene Watts of Columbus MS, Daughter: Genecile Watts Weston (Bruce) of Ijamsville Maryland, Son: Dwight M. Watts Jr. (Paulette) of Jackson MS, grandchildren, Vaughan Anderson Watts, Ensley Louise Weston. Brothers: Anderson Watts of Williamsport Maryland, and Guy Watts of Tupelo, MS Pallbearers will be Guy Watts Jr., Guy Watts III, Granville Barker, Lamar Barker, Vaughan Weston, Benny Shelton, Curtis Collums, . Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Brown, Dr. Ron C. Cannon, Dr. Paul Flint of John Hopkins Hospital. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church 1201 College St. Columbus MS 39701
