Joe Raymond "Buster"Gibson, age 60, of Columbus, Miss., passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008, at his residence in Columbus, Miss. Arrangements are being handled by Memorial Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Graveside services will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 15, 2008, with the Rev. Glenn Miller officiating. Interment will also be at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, Miss. Buster, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Columbus on March 14, 1948 to the late James William and Mary Catherine Franks Gibson. A life-long resident of Lowndes County, Mr. Gibson graduated from S.D. High School and East Mississippi Community College. He was a Manufacturers' Clothing Rep for approximately 30 years before his retirement. He was an honorary member of the Vietnam Veterans Association. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, fishing and playing bingo. He is survived by his daughter Sara Catherine Vought (Shay), his grandchildren Sara Grace, Gibson and Madeline Vought and his two brothers Wayne (Bobbie Jean) and Jerry (Karen) Gibson. Pallbearers will be Hubert Barnhill, Henry Barnhill, Harold Barnhill, Bill Conner, Roman Gibson and Richard Garmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtiss Kinard, and members and friends of the Vietnam Veterans Association, American Legion Post 69 and his coffee club.
