Mary W. Hyde, known as Aunt Mary to most, of Columbus, MS, died in her home January 10, 2011, at the age of 92. Services for Aunt Mary will be held Thursday January 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wes Jones officiating. Special music will be provided by Edward Rhinewalt. Visitation for Aunt Mary will be held Wednesday January 12, 2011 from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Coy Cemetery near Preston, MS. Aunt Mary was born September 21, 1918 in West Point, MS, to Major D. and Cordia S. Callaway. She married Robert Bob Hyde on December 24, 1954 in Columbus, MS, in the home of her brother. Aunt Mary was born and raised in Mississippi but moved to Texas for a brief period of time. She spent the majority of her adult life in Detroit, MI, before returning to Louisville, MS in 1974. Aunt Mary enjoyed a number of hobbies including playing the organ, working in her flower and vegetable garden, and bird watching. She also enjoyed memorable reflections of past years while visiting with close family and friends. Aunt Mary was a former member of East Louisville Baptist Church and a current member of Community Baptist Church which she joined in 2005. Aunt Mary was preceded in death by her husband Robert Bob Hyde, father and mother, Major D. and Cordia S. Callaway, brother Major D. Callaway, Jr., sister Hilda Callaway Stokes (J. D.), and nephew Charles F. Stokes. Aunt Mary is survived by her beloved sister Elizabeth C. Lovorn of Columbus, MS, nieces, Mary Lovorn Fowler (Freddie) and Sheila Lovorn Gibson, both of Columbus, MS. Jean Lovorn Wheeler (Larry) of Lilburn, GA, Dana L. Lovorn of Winterhaven, CA, Etoile Callaway Ward (Lucian) of Memphis, TN, Jeanette Barrett Stokes (Charles) of Louisville, MS, nephew, Larry Callaway (Martha) of Memphis, TN, stepdaughter, Mary Hyde Bolin (Gary) of Brookside KY, step-son, Bobby Hyde of TN, step-grandsons, Garett and Dustin Bolin of Brookside, KY, step-great granddaughter, Kayla Bolin of Brookside, KY, and a number of great nieces and nephews. Special friends include Kim Hancock of Winterhaven, CA, Linda Harris Brown (Larry), Rodney and Michelle Greggs, and Ellis and Linda Blanton, all of Columbus, MS, and a host of other friends from her home town, Louisville, MS. Pallbearers are Freddie Fowler, Larry Wheeler, Johnny Stokes, Billy Dear, Ben Dear, Brian Gibson, and Andy Fowler. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Rhinewalt, Bob Moore, Larry Andrews, Jim Spencer, Bill Delk, Chris Atkins, Jared Stewart, Bruce Frazier, and friends from Community Baptist Church.
