Dewitt Jordan, age 83, of Columbus, Miss., died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Miss. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Memorial Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM Monday, September 15, 2008. Graveside services and internment will be held at Furnace Hill Cemetery , in Vernon, Al at 3:30 PM Monday, September 15, 2008 , with Rev. Grant Mitchell officiating. Mr. Jordan was the son of the late Henry N. Jordan and Daisy Jones Jordan and was born July 1, 1925 in Lamar County , Al. He was an United States Army veteran of World War II and was stationed in Germany. He was employed with TIL Manufacturing in Aberdeen, Ms for many years and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Aberdeen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Sims Jordan, daughters Patricia Rhee Jordan and Gina Kay Jordan and his only son Allen Dewitt Jordan. He is also survived by his two daughters, Barbara Jordan Josey(Jody) of Starkville, Miss. and Jeanie Jordan Anderson (Spencer) of Netzaberg, Germany; sister, Jessie Rhee Morton of Caledonia, Miss; brother, Alfred Smith Jordan of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and four grandchildren Taylor, Davis and Luke Josey and Lila Anderson. Pallbearers will be Randy Motes, Steve Cummings, Richard Jordan, Fred Morew, Spencer Anderson and Jody Josey.
