Robert Louie Mims, age 94, of Columbus, MS, passed away March 21, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 24, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2013, one hour prior to the service at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Mims was born June 19, 1918, in Carroll County, MS, to the late Robert Meek and Hattie Galey Mims. He was a graduate of J. Z. George High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Mr. Mims was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star. He retired from Seminole Manufacturing and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addtition to his parents, Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Sudduth Mims, and daughter, Zerelda Thompson. Survivors include his sons, Joe Ray Mims and his wife Martha Sue of Columbus, MS, and Paul Mims and his wife Sandra of Columbus, MS, daughters, Dianne M. Noffke and her husband Mark of Virginia Beach, VA, and Pamela Gammill and her husband Robert of Pontotoc, MS, son-in-law, Bobby Thompson of West Point, MS, sisters, Evelyn and Forest, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Penial Sunday School Class of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and the staffs of Better Living Home Care and Baptist Memorial Hospice.
