Billie Ruth Jones, age 77, of Columbus, Miss., died Friday, May 23, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle in Columbus, Miss. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, May 25, 2008. Her service will be held in the chapel of Memorial Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 25, 2008 , with Rev. Jimmy Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbus, Miss. Mrs. Jones was born March 12, 1931 in Lamar County, Al to the late Milton M. and Louise Rebecca Cook Shelton. She retired from the Lowndes County School System as cafeteria manager at New Hope Elementary school. She was a active member of McBee Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clayton Jones and brothers James and Paul Shelton. She is survived by her son Wayne Jones of Columbus, her daughter Pat Kinder of Caledonia, 4 grandsons and 1 great grandson. Lloyd Swartz, Fred Bell, David Grammer, Kenny Shelton, Bubba Britt, and Tom Randall will serve as active pallbearers.
